I am an amateur landscape photographer based on Walney Island, South Cumbria.

I am lucky to live where I do, on an island at the end of the Furness Peninsula surrounded by beaches, many of which are National Nature Reserves. Nature is in abundance, particularly birds and of course grey seal. I like to spend time at these places with my binoculars but my photographic interests always pull me to grander landscapes in the Lake District and Scotland.

When I was younger I used to charge around the Lake District fells and ridges bagging as many summits and covering as many miles as I could. I can’t say I stopped to absorb the scenery much, I do now. Looking at the world through a lens and age (mostly age) has certainly made me slow down to appreciate the scale and beauty afforded to us but also relish the more intimate scenes in the quieter corners of the National Park.

I want to use this site to share some of those views and showcase the beauty of Scotland the Lake District and its surrounding areas.

I hope you enjoy the images and maybe they bring back your own particular memories of the place.

Cheers

Pete
